I was delighted recently to help out at the Nuneaton branch of the Coventry Building Society (CBS) where I was asked to provide support and encouragement for members of staff taking part in the Tour de Branch event. The Tour de Branch was a challenge organised by some of the senior management of the CBS in which they completed a bicycle tour of all of their branches and head office sites over a period of five and a half days totalling a distance of 550 miles!
The aim was to raise £25k for the Royal British Legion (the chosen Company charity) and other local charities individually chosen by each branch.
In the Nuneaton branch, an exercise bike was set up to try & match the miles that the Company team would complete that day, with the branch staff supported by yours truly as the in house personal trainer!
The event also consisted of cake sales (I turned a blind eye!), fancy dress, raffle and some strenuous cycling.
The total raised at the branch was £336.11 and this will go to Community Café in Nuneaton (the Nuneaton branch’s community partner). This is the second fund raising event held for them this year.
About the Community Café
The Community Café is a self-funded organisation which offers affordable food in a social environment where people are encouraged to meet and spend time socialising. The organisation also helps people with completion of official forms, paperwork and have support groups for carers and people suffering hardship. They also provide essential work experience for people within the community who are struggling to find employment. Many of the customers who use the facility are elderly and have really taken to the café as a place to visit and socialise with friends. All in all, it was a good fun day with lots of hard work and sweating that resulted in money being raised for charity.
If you would like me to attend your charity event as the in-house personal trainer, please contact me via my contact form and if my diary permits, I will be happy to help!
