You Are Your Own Gym

I have a friend who once made the mistake of moaning to me that he was so unfit and because he is a lorry driver by trade he never knows where he is going to be on any given night.

He asked me…

“How can I get to a gym when I don’t know where I’ll be?” 

to which I calmly replied,

“WHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTT????! You have a piece of equipment in your cab that is ideal for fat burning and muscle toning. And you always have it with you!!  Dude, YOU are YOUR OWN GYM!!!”

The look of confusion on his face was pretty easy to see, so I showed him, right then, right there on the spot!!

Bodyweight exercises are massively underestimated by the general public who often believe there’s no point doing the following:

  • Press-ups (in the various guises that they come in)
  • Sit ups
  • Crunches
  • Star Jumps
  • Spotty Dogs
  • Jogging
  • Sprinting
  • Knees Ups
  • Tuck Jumps
  • And who could possibly forget Burpees?

The list is only as endless as the mind allows it to be.  If you are stuck with no equipment you need not worry you literally can be your own gym!

Below I have created a full bodyweight exercise programme that you can do at home, by your lorry cab, in your office or wherever the mood takes you. All you need is YOU!

30 seconds of Star Jumps

30 seconds of jogging on the spot

30 seconds of Spotted Dogs

30 seconds of Knees to Elbows

30 seconds of Squats

REPEAT

Stretch!

Press ups 3 x 10

Sit-ups 3 x 10

Hill climbers 3 x 10

Dorsal raises 3 x 10

Lunges 3 x 10

Squat thrusts 3 x 10

Jogging with Knees up 3 x 10

Minimum rest in between Sets

30 seconds of Star Jumps

30 seconds of jogging on the spot

30 seconds of Spotted Dogs

30 seconds of Knees to Elbows

30 seconds Marching

STRETCH!

Full work-out!! No equipment!! Be your own gym!!
